During wood cutting, it is always essential to have a device to hold the workpiece firmly and evenly to the fence. It will eliminate stock chattering, ensure cutting quality and most importantly protect your fingers from being damaged. However, most of the devices on the market (such as the featherboards) cannot handle this job ideally for the purposes. They either cannot provide enough holding pressure to the stock, or cannot provide even pressure to the stock. Also their installations and adjustment are not user-friendly.
We are excited to introduce the brand new Compass Universal Roller Guide which will act as an ideal workpiece holder for safety and quality cutting. Harvey Compass Roller Guides have two models RG-1 and RG-2 for different thickness ranges of stocks.
Each Compass Roller Guide features two guiding rollers to hold the workpiece duringcutting. Obviously the two rollers make hand feeding much more comfortable compared to the featherboards with sliding frictions. Also the two rollers are riding on 2 One-way bearings which have much bigger reverse resistance to reduce the risk of kickbacks. The unique Independent Suspension Mechanism (ISM) enables the two rollers to keep even vertical pressure to the workpiece during cutting, this will greatly prevent workpiecechattering. Moreover, the holding force is infinitely adjustable (15 – 22lbs / 70 – 100N) through anintuitive adjusting knob which gives you the optimized holding force for different cutting scenarios. The RG-1 and RG-2 Roller Guides are greatly versatile for differentapplications such as table saw cuttings, bandsaw cuttings, router table cuttings and shaper cuttings. Like every other Harvey products, Compass Universal Roller Guides are designed and manufactured with the best possible structure, aesthetics, materials and accuracy. The Compass Universal Roller Guide features a unique ‘IndependentSuspension Mechanism’ -- each roller is fitted with a pre-loaded springindependently, which allows the two guide rollers to move independently to adapt the dynamic stock surface with even holding pressure.
With the Self-locking Cam Structure, you can infinitely adjust the holding force by rotating the adjusting knob to get the optimized holding pressure for your specific cutting scenarios. The holding force adjustment range isapproximately 15 – 22 lbs (70 – 100 N) which fits different cutting scenarios.
Each roller is riding on a one-way roller bearing to ensure the roller only rotates in the feed direction for effective kickback prevention.
To prevent the kickback much better, the tires of the rollers are specially made of polyurethane rubber which can enhance the superior grip friction while bringing no damage to the stock.
The precision Bridge-Type T-slot bar equipped on the body is able to eliminate the lateral movement of the body in mounting to the worktable, which ensures both of the rollers touch the stock with even pressure for high cutting stability.
The Compass Universal Roller Guides can not only be used on all Harvey’s table saws, band saws and wood shapers, but also any other woodworking machines with the standard T-slot (19.05 x 9.525mm).

The Universal Roller Guide has two versions (RG-1 & RG-2) with different thickness (25.4mm & 50.8mm) available for using on thin or thick stock. For RG-1, the recommended stock thickness range is 2mm~51mm; for RG-2 the thickness range is 2mm~102mm.
The main body of RG-1and RG-2 is made of anodized aircraft-grade aluminum with high precision machining and beautiful anodizing.
